POPS OF BRIGHT COLORS AND PATTERN MIXING

January 9, 2014

Deets:
Sweater:  J.Crew Factory | Button down:  J.Crew Factory | Skirt:  The Loft (similar)
Shoes:  LC Lauren Conrad via Kohl’s | Tights:  Hanes, c/o | Necklaces:  Hawthorne Collection, c/o (similar), pearls (heirloom)
Bracelets:  Monogram – Charming Charlie (in stores) , pearls – gift, bangle – Alex & Ani, c/o
Back to school means back to professional attire, which means less jean days and more skirts and dresses.  If it were not so cold, I really wouldn’t mind it at all, except when it’s in the 30s and the frigid wind is blowing; wearing tights does not exactly provide much warmth!
With that being said, January has got to be the most dreary and slow-moving month ever!  This is only the first full week of January, and it already feels like we should be a lot further along than that.  With the passing of Christmas, I am ready for the arrival of spring and warmer weather.  It’s funny how the only reasons for enjoying winter, for me, are Christmas and snow, and now that I’ve had both, I’d rather just move on to greener pastures (pun intended) :D.  I think the rest of the continent can agree with me; we’ve seen some pretty awful temperatures these past few days!  The only consolation is that the sun has been shining during these cold days, so at least January seems to be trying to apologize for its rather rude behavior (apology acceptance is pendent upon on more sunshine!).
You probably noticed that I’m wearing this pink gingham shirt for the second time this week:  I’ve already admitted that I’m looking ahead towards spring, which means that I am injecting bursts of color here and there to brighten up my wardrobe just a bit.  This pink gingham shirt adds just the right amount of cheery brightness, not overwhelming or that screams “Winter, be gone!”, but just enough that it keeps my mood from being sullen on dark and dreary days.  Getting up in the mornings while it’s still dark outside?  That quickly puts me in a sour mood.  I need my sunshine, and I need color to function.  I’m not even joking when I say that, the lack of color on the trees really does affect me!
So little pops of bright colors and pattern mixing it is, for the next several weeks!
Are you anticipating the arrival of spring?
How are you showing that in your outfit choices

I agree that when Christmas is over, it should be spring:) Except my daughter's bday is this month, so that makes it fun. I am loving the trend of layering necklaces right now! So cute! Happy January! Susan

I'm too tired and cold to think about adding color into my wardrobe! Ugh. At least I have you to help me look forward to Spring. But I am a bit obsessed with my pink gingham shirt as well…….maaaaaybe I'll pull it out of my closet.

What a gorgeous sweater! I love how you layered your necklaces, too. I wish spring were just around the corner, but it probably won't be warm near me until about May. Ug.
