Happy (almost) Friday, lovelies!
Ok, I think it’s time I had an intervention…I am obsessed with nautical prints. As in, I could wear it every single day of the week and not be tired of it. This is the second time this week that I have worn a nautical themed outfit. Aaand the second time I have worn this necklace! Ok, so when I like something I tend to stick with it….I don’t think I’m really taking this Closet Remix Challenge to it’s full extent. It’s so uncomfortable stepping out of my comfort zone, and really mixing up my wardrobe! Pulling out those pieces that were bought (gasp) last year and mixing them with my new pieces. Maybe I should give myself a new challenge, “Wear Pieces that are NOT from this Season” Challenge. Eh, I don’t think I need to do that. 🙂
Going to need some support, ladies, because at just two and half weeks into my shopping ban, I am beginning to feel a strong desire to shop. Not mindless shopping, with no specifics in mind, buut I have a rather large wishlist that has been forming over these past couple weeks. Things I feel like I am missing out on because of my Closet Remix Challenge.
Another obsession? This beaded rose necklace. Seriously, Need. An intervention!
I need to stop thinking of it as a shopping ban, and think of it as a chance to maximize my outfit potential. So from now on, I will be taking on the title of Outfit Optimizer who specializes in outfit optimization and maximizing the wearability and functionality of pieces of clothing….Ok, enough with the Material Science jargon (sorry, my Hubbins’ influence tends to creep in, now and then). 🙂
Looking at it from a different perspective, it is a good sign that I keep repeating certain pieces over and over again, because it means that 1) They are pieces I can’t wait to wear again, 2) They have durability 3) They are versatile pieces.
So in all honesty, I guess I did “well” when I went over my budget, I didn’t purchase pieces that were “one-hit wonders”, good for one season and not the next. I am quite proud of the fact that I invested in quality pieces. 🙂 Guess I should have spread the purchases out over a few months instead of packing them into two…Oops! :/
This skirt is definitely one of those pieces I keep remixing every week! Actually, I have worn it twice this week. SO not ashamed of that! It can literally be mixed with anything, and the fun print instantly adds interest and a touch of class. Oh, and did I mention my obsession with nautical prints?? Yeah, totally fallen for it, hook, line, and sinker, pun intended 😀
Aaand this outfit also has mint and coral…let’s just say this outfit contains some of my obsessions. That’s ok, I wear it proudly! Who doesn’t love mint?? And coral?? And anchors?? (Intervention, anyone??)

Hi Whitley! I am just loving your style and I have a proposition for you. I am thinking of joining forces with a fellow blogger to do a closet makeover. I mentioned it to you on IG the other – sort of kidding – but I think it may be a fun thing to do. I don't really have any fabulous ideas yet but I wanted to run it by you to see what you think before I brainstorm. We could do a wardrobe mix and match, several ways to wear one item, wearing pieces for several seasons, a give away, etc. Let me know if you are interested or if you have any bright ideas.
