CLASSY SASSY

spring

YOU LOOK LIKE LILLY…

May 13, 2014

dress:  The Crystal Feather Boutique, c/o | shoes:  Tamaris, old, similar here & here clutch:  Tory Burch, similar | pearls:  HelloFab | belt:  Lilly Pulitzer, similar here and here | bracelets:  Charming Charlie, similar here (for $9!)  & here

Oh greenery, you make me so happy!  You’ve seen quite a few outfit posts taken from this very street, but Sunday was the first time I had been back since winter, and boy did it look different!  I had no idea that when the leaves were on the trees, it created an archway over the sidewalk (can we say romantic??)!  And the gardens…Just look at that garden in the first three pictures!  So green and fresh, I think we in the Bluegrass can officially say it’s Sprummer!

That’s right, Sprummer; Spring-Summer.  Because really, Kentucky only has two seasons, Winter and Summer, with just a couple short weeks of Fall and Spring to break things up.  For example:  yesterday, it was 88 degrees outside….and humid….

Which is why I am going to be stocking up on lightweight dresses and tunics because it’s only going to get hotter.  In the summer-time, my outfits typically consist of shorts and a top, but sometimes even the chino shorts are too thick #truestory.  I talked last week about how seersucker will be one of my summer fabrics of choice, but I have yet to find an affordable seersucker dress (if you know of any, please pass them along! :D).  Other great alternatives are thin silky dresses like shifts and tunics because they too can easily be dressed up or down simply by switching shoes and adding a belt.

Which brings me to my next point–this dress just became my new favorite piece for summer!  It’s loose fitting and flowy but not baggy and shapeless, very breathable and the pattern is so bright and girlie!  I styled it with a belt to give it a waistline, but even without a belt it looks feminine and classy.  My one complaint about finding a dress for summer is that they are either too clingy and cause me to become a sweaty hot mess #notattractive, or they are too casual and really can’t be worn too many places.

Not this dress.

And it looks like it could be a Lilly Pulitzer dress.

For $32.

#score

Pretty darn excited about this new addition to my summer wardrobe, I think next time I’ll wear it with a denim jacket, glitter sandals (not sure how they’re still alive!), and a fedora.  So many possibilities!!

Stay Classy!
