CLASSY SASSY

gold party dressvalentine's day, winter

PINK, GOLD, & PARTY DRESS

January 31, 2014

Dress:  J.Crew (take 50% off!) | Sweater:  Banana Republic (still in some stores, similar) | Clutch:  Bluetique (similar) | Shoes:  Kohl’s | Pearls:  HelloFab | Tights:  Hanes, c/o | Shades:  Kate  Spade via eBay | Ring:  J.Crew (old) | Monogram bangle:  Charming Charlie | Lip color:  Babor in Fancy Pink (similar to MAC’s Girl About Town)

With today being the last day of January (WHAT?) and Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I need to start thinking about what I’m going to wear!  Lately, I have been on a real pink and gold kick, pinning tablescapes and color palettes, and if a cocktail happens to be pink, then I’ve probably pinned it, too :P.

Earlier this week I talked about dressing down sequins and making them daytime appropriate, the same can be said with other dressier pieces in your wardrobe!

This gorgeous dress from J.Crew, for instance, is the perfect example; super classy, perfect for any holiday party, gala, etc.  I had purchased it while it was on SUPER sale (read:  I paid $45 for it), but Christmas and New Year’s Eve had already passed, and I didn’t see any occasions in the near future that would warrant such a dress.

You probably have a piece or two like this just sitting in your closet, you’ve got the dress and no place to go!  As with the sequin tunic earlier this week, we’re going to follow the same concept to dress down something that is formal.  Layer a sweater (or even a sweatshirt like Caitlin from Southern Curls and Pearls) over an elegant party dress, add a pair of wedges, and you’ve got the recipe for understated elegance.  Want something a little bit more boho-chic?  A chambray button down tied in a knot at the waist, sleeves rolled up, and a pair of ankle booties would also pair perfectly!

I chose to pair my dress with this pretty pink sequin elbow-patch sweater and gold bow pumps because I wanted to keep my look rather girly and sophisticated.  I’ve been in such a girly phase lately!!  (Ok, when am I not?).

So now that I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go, I guess I should plan Brunch or a party…

I’m thinking something pink…and gold…. 😉

Happy Friday, lovelies,

Stay Classy!
