Fall Finds Under $60

October 9, 2013

Happy Hump Day, lovelies!
If you follow along with my blog, then you know that I recently participated in a No Shop September and didn’t purchase anything.  Well, for the most part I did not, but you know the story of my leather jacket and my tweed skirt, but for the most part I was pretty good!  You probably also noticed my habitual absence on Wednesdays, where I normally have a Wishlist Wednesday post to share the pieces that I am currently craving.  Well, my absences were on purpose, as the thought of sitting down and purposely thinking about my wishlist would have made the no shopping thing more difficult.  But not only that, I wanted to focus my attention on enjoying the things I already have, rather than pining away for the things I do not.  It was a huge readjustment of my attitude and thought process, and I must say, it was much needed and I am thankful for it!

SO, now that I am back from my shopping hiatus, it is more important for me now than ever to carefully plan what I purchase to ensure that I stay within my budget.  And when I say within, I mean I would like to have a little money left over each month to put towards bigger purchases and date nights with the hubs.  If I want to purchase an investment piece, I must plan for it and commit to buying only that for the month.  Do I really need another polka dot button down?  I would like to argue so, but I know my closet would beg to differ (plaid, on the other hand, is a definite necessity, and must be bought in every color, shade, and pattern!).

While I do love investing in a nice staple piece here and there, sometimes it’s just not in the cards for me to shell out a lot of money on a single item!  Thankfully places like Target, Old Navy, Forever 21, and even J.Crew Factory have come out with budget-friendly pieces that fit both my criteria of being versatile, budget-friendly, and decent quality.  Seriously, you would be surprised with some of the gems I have found out these so-called “cheap-chic” stores!

So, let’s dive right in to see what pieces I am craving for this month!

Fall Finds Under $60

While it is just the beginning of October, it is sadly already time to be thinking of our fall to winter transition pieces.  I know, I know, the leaves have only just begun to change, or you’re STILL waiting for the weather to dip below 80 in your area.  Thankfully a lot of the colors that are popular for fall will be perfect for winter, as well!  Oh, and did I mention that these items probably won’t be going out of style for next fall?  That’s right, I picked out pieces that have actually been on trend for the past couple of fall seasons, and I don’t think they will be going anywhere anytime soon.
While I have been salivating over Ralph Lauren cable knit sweaters, their price has kept me from even making introductions, let alone a relationship (funny how that always seems to get in our way!).  I remembered my white cable knit sweater I had purchased last year from Forever 21, and that it was super soft and surprisingly good quality, I went back to Forever 21’s website to see if they had come out with more cable knit sweaters.  Let’s just say that I wasn’t disappointed!  The striped cable knit sweater is a fun way to add color and pattern to your fall/winter outfit but at the same time the cable knit pattern keeps it sophisticated.  Looking for a classic solid color?  This navy sweater is given a fun twist with the buttons on the shoulders, and it also comes in white.  These two sweaters just went to the top of my wishlist!
I actually already own the polka dot sweater, but I had to include it anyway to let you all know that it is back in stock at J.Crew Factory!  If you’re not quite sure about the price, wait for some more sales to happen either in store or online.  Great silhouette, again, this sweater pairs wonderfully with skirts, pants, denim, and shorts!
At the top of my blazer crush list is this fabulous plaid blazer from H&M.  I have purchased quite a few blazers from H&M, including this beautiful hunter green corduroy blazer, and I couldn’t be more in love!  The faux-leather elbow patches and classic checked pattern give this J.Crew tweed blazer a run for its money!
During the fall and winter, I find myself wearing a lot of skirts paired with tights during my workweek, so finding skirts that can be worn almost every single week and that will still be in style next year are important!  I’m looking for classic structures like this green pencil skirt from Target or a classic fabric like this gray tweed skirt from Loft that will be able to be paired with anything and will still be in style come next year.  You can never go wrong with a pencil skirt or tweed!
When it comes to blouses, I want something that can either be tucked into a skirt or worn over leggings and boots.  Target hit the jackpot with affordable but chic blouses like this solid color tunic that comes in five different colors, and this printed hunter green tunic blouse.
The leopard wrap watch, satchel, necklace, herringbone, plaid, and nautical bow bracelets are all fun pieces to add a little fall color to an outfit!  If your work environment dress code is business casual to formal, then it might be difficult to show off your fashionista side.  The best way to showcase your style while still maintaining your dress code is through your accessories, like a a plaid bow bracelet or the emerald necklace.  Also, carrying a fun colored handbag is another great but subtle way of adding color to your daily outfits, and this purple satchel is perfectly on trend for fall!

For showcasing your style outside the workplace, these black studded flats make a great alternative to the Valentino rockstud heels, and would pair well with tights!  Looking for a more work-friendly shoe option?  This burgundy tassel loafer is comfortable and more dressy but still in one of the season’s most popular colors.

Well, lovelies, I hope these pieces caught your eye just like they did mine!  I have so many items on my wishlist, it will be difficult to narrow them down to just a couple of pieces.  Aaaaand, don’t even get me started on the new J.Crew Factory arrivals…that will be a separate wishlist for tomorrow!

Which of these pieces are you currently crushing on?
