Hello, lovelies!
It’s a chilly day here in the midwest part of the South (southern part of the Midwest?), and I could not be happier!! The sun is shining, which gives the crisp air a tinge of warmth. But the air is quite cool, and I am happily layering up this morning. This week, morning temperatures will start out in the low 50s and warm up into the 70s by mid-afternoon so this outfit is perfect for the fluctuating temperatures!
Oh, can I get an amen for it FINALLY being thick socks and boots season??? Ok, maybe it’s still hot where you are (sorry Phoenix and Dallas!!), so I am sending cool vibes to you through this post. Take heart, you all have milder winters than what we have, so we all have our piece of the seasonal pie. 
I have some good news to share with you all, and how God provides in little ways: I will be taking a long-term substitute assignment at the elementary school I substitute taught at last year, which is exciting because I know the kids, I know the procedures, the teachers know me, the principal is a huge advocate, and I love the kids! Now, while it’s not a classroom teaching position, I’m actually subbing as a para-educator during lunch and whatever else is needed of me, and it’s only half days, but it is the same time every day, Monday through Friday, and I have basically been adopted as a guest teacher at this school! Not only that, I can work there and still work at my boutique job, so this will give me almost full-time hours each week, and some ROUTINE to my schedule! While I like things to be exciting and trying new things, when it comes to my schedule and how I work, keep the house clean, work out, etc, I am desperate for structure and routine. I thrive when I know where I will be each morning and at what time.
Oh, did I mention I am excited to see my kids everyday?? Yes, they are my kiddos, I’ve have spent so much time at their school, attended the 5th grade graduation (shed a few tears), subbed for half the teachers at the school, broken up a few fights, and loved every single one of those students as if I had my own classroom.
I’M SO EXCITED IT’S FINALLY BOOT SEASON!!!!!!
I know I am participating in No Shop September (and have been really good the past THREE weeks!!) buuut I had a weak moment last week and bought two pairs of boot socks. I mean, they were only $5 a pair, and I probably wear boots at LEAST 4 days a week during fall/winter time, so I justified getting them. Hey, they’re necessities, right, Right?? 
One of the things I am most excited about fall is when the leaves start changing. The colors are so vibrant, warm, beautiful, I LOVE driving or riding my bike around town, and even out into the countryside where all the horse farms are. The landscape is simply breathtaking!
The other thing I am most excited about is dressing in layers. Especially if it involves boots and boot socks. Seriously, these boots have been with me the past two years, and last winter, one of my students made the comment that all they ever see me in was boots. Truth.
This outfit is combining some of my favorite fall trends with plaid, boots, and my herringbone vest (which will probably make an appearance at least once a week!). I’m not sorry that I’m not sorry, if I really like something love something, I will wear it, and wear it often!
I hope everyone will have a wonderful day and enjoy the fall weather if you are lucky enough to have cool temperatures! Starting next week you will be seeing more work-appropriate fall outfits as I transition more of my teaching outfits into fall. SUPER EXCITED!!
