Hello, lovelies!
I have been itching to get back to blogging, my fingers have been twitching, and my mind has been racing at night with all the ideas that have popped into my head. Also, I am finally catching up on reading everyone’s blog posts from last week and trying to reply back to the wonderful comments you all left me…SO sorry it has taken me this long, but all last week and into the weekend, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, and blogging, sadly, was the last thing on my list. But I am back now (at least for another month, more on that later), and can’t wait to jump right in! I have to admit, the past couple of weeks have been difficult with trying to come up with outfits while continuing to shop my closet. With it being a little over a month into the challenge, I started hitting roadblocks with trying to figure out what to wear. I know, I know *replying to my husband* I do have enough clothes to put something together…one would think…
Anyways, I think the time off was actually very helpful in recharging my creative and inspirational juices, and I am SO excited to get back into blogging! Who doesn’t need a little blog R&R?
Btw, I don’t know if any of you have noticed, but a couple of weeks ago I changed my URL…That’s right, I made the plunge and am now the proud owner of my own domain name!!! *Cue fanfare again* I am no longer simplywhitsequinedlife.blogspot.com (I got pretty speedy at typing that out on blogs I commented on!), but am now just simplywhitsequinedlife.com. “One small step for man, one giant leap for…blogger…kind.” Sorry, Mr. Armstrong, I meant no disrespect!
Today’s outfit is what I wore to the rehearsal dinner last week. Actually, I have worn this outfit twice. I am totally in love with this yellow skirt!!! I first saw this Kate Spade skirt at Nordstrom, and I instantly fell in love! Buut the price tag got in between us, and our relationship was a non-starter. So I began looking around for a lookalike, and then Meghan from Everyday Fashion and Finance posted a Looks for Less skirt edition, and this skirt from Dorothy Perkins was at the top. To say I was excited would be a huge understatement. First, I am in love with skirts. I wear them almost everyday in the summertime. Second, it is a striped skirt. No need to say more.
I went matchy-matchy with my look, wanting to keep it simple but classy and chic for the rehearsal dinner. I feel like a 50s housewife in this outfit. Totally fine by me, since I think the 1950s was one of the classiest time periods in fashion! Red/coral accessories to give a third dimension to this outfit, with a wide waist belt to cinch in the waist. One thing I highly recommend is having heels and flats in the same color and texture. These red heels are adorable and comfortable for the first couple of hours, but I switched to my matching red flats not too long into the evening. Comfort is a must, but when they also go with the outfit, it’s icing on the cake! 🙂
