How We Wore It: Polka Dot Tees

 

Happy Friday, lovelies!
I am super excited to bring you a collaboration with Steph and Katelin from White Coat Wardrobe and My Wardrobe Staples!  We connected through Instagram, and two of us have the privilege of living in the same town (we both thing Katelin should move here!).
Today, we are going to show you how to style our polka dot t-shirt three different ways.  Steph was sweet enough to give me this shirt a couple months ago, and then she snagged the same shirt for Katelin to join the polka dot party!  So naturally, we had to do a post together becausethatswhatbloggingbestiesdo, and we decided to show you how we each love to style our shirt.
I’m not going to lie, I have worn this shirt at least once a week.  It is super soft and it literally can be worn with anything!  I have worn it with skinny jeans and faux leather to shorts, denim jacket and statement necklace; here’s how I’ve styled it so far:
Today I am going to show you may favorite way to style a t-shirt:  tucked into a pencil skirt with a colorful statement necklace.  There is nothing that says casual chic than a plain ol’ t-shirt dressed up with a sleek pencil skirt!  And with it being 90 degrees here in the South, it makes for a very comfortable outfit!  Not going to lie, I am absolutely loving all of the bright colors I put into this outfit!

 

This fabulous colormix necklace made it super easy to incorporate lots of bright colors into the same outfit because, well, it has so many different colors in it!  This necklace had been on my wishlist ever since I saw it in the J.Crew catalog.  Buuuut then everyone bought it, and I wasn’t sure anymore if I truly wanted it because I liked it or because everyone else had it.  So when my closet remix challenge was finally over, I waited awhile before I ordered it.  And then when it appeared on Groopdealz again at a lower price (that tends to happen, so don’t dispair if you miss something the first time around!), I decided to take the plunge at buy it.  And when I pulled it out of the package, I knew I had bought it for me.  It was even prettier than what I had been anticipating, and the stones were wonderful quality!

 

 

 

The Deets:
Shirt:  Forever 21 (similar here) // Skirt:  Ann Taylor (on sale plus extra 40% off!)
Clutch:  Target (sold out) // Necklace:  Groopdealz // Sandals:  Target (might find them on clearance)
Bracelet:  Forever 21 (old)
I decided I wanted to dress my t-shirt up a little bit, so I tucked it into a pencil skirt and added a bright statement necklace and clutch.  I actually got the tee and pencil skirt inspiration from Dani Marie who tucked an adorable striped t-shirt into a pencil skirt (go check her out!).  I knew right away that is how I wanted to style my polka dot shirt for this post!
I know I sound like the most indecisive flake ever for saying this, but this outfit makes me happy that it’s still summer!  I know it was just yesterday I was pining away for fall and obstinately wore my blazer in the hot, humid weather, but I am really going to miss wearing so many bright colors together!
I think it’s funny how Steph and I both decided to pair our shirts with a pencil skirt….and I literally just now noticed we both used the same clutch!  Katelin was being the cool child and went with something completely different, and I love how she styled hers!  I had so much fun working with these ladies, they are such sweet and wonderful friends to have!  Make sure to hop on over to their blogs, these ladies got style!

    Ok, you seriously need to stop being so freakin' adorable! I love this combo so much! That pencil skirt is a GORGEOUS color and perfect for the transition to fall too. I have never been a pencil skirt kind of girl, but I think this is a great combo and you look stunning =) Also, the color mix necklace is the perfect necklace. Indisputable fact.
