It is no secret that I am in love with J.Crew and J.Crew Factory, and I think it’s safe to say that most of us are! What I do not love, however, is that their pricetags quite frequently get in the way of a monogamous relationship. They aren’t a good fit, so I go look for a “better deal”, they lure me back in with the promise of “being better”, I get hooked, they go back to being expensive, I leave again…You get the idea. 😉
So while I am not a fan of the prices, and my wallet doth protest to being left empty, the styles are what I hold my standards to when looking for clothing elsewhere. Who can beat their classy, flattering cuts, adorable prints, and fun colors?? Surprisingly, there are quite a few places where similar styles can be found, and the prices make for a decent replacement! Here is a list of a few of some of the most popular summer pieces I have seen on J.Crew and Factory both in store and online.
J.Crew:
clutch + skirt + sandal + skirt (sold out online) + jacket + necklace
Total cost: $610.80
Steals:
clutch + skirt + sandal + skirt + jacket + necklace
Total cost: $187.98
Looking at the totals costs, it is surprising how quickly money can be spent! Alot of times it is best to go with the higher quality piece, but often times, the difference in quality of the piece between prices brackets is unnoticeable. We often get lost in lust over the J.Crew pieces, waiting for them to fall just within our pricepoint and forget to that there are comparable lookalikes just around the shopping corner. I know, because I am TOTALLY guilty of this myself! I have been drooling over that pink J.Crew Factory skirt for quite some time, willing the price to fall just a little bit more (and wishing my Closet Remix Challenge to be over), when I ignore the cute pink skirt at Target for half the price of the J.Crew piece on sale. And the tassel necklace??? For J.Crew, it is actually a pretty good price! If you have the mullah, I would say go for it, and you won’t regret it, but if you don’t, the Baublebar piece won’t disappoint, either.

The one thing I would probably splurge over save is the heels…I have such a hard time with heels as it is and I find that cheaper heels are more uncomfortable than "designer" heels.
