Happy Weekend, lovelies!
I am SUPER excited for the weekend because it’s supposed to cool off into the low 70s (can we say FALL?!?!?!). I think summer is finally starting to take the hint, and is gracefully bowing out of the scene.
I am just going to go ahead and said it: when I think of fall fashion, I think of New England prep a la Classy Girls Wear Pearls style (I would really like to trade wardrobes with her, btw). Tweed blazers, wool skirts, cable knit sweaters, plaid button downs, cognac riding boots, etc., fall fashion is probably my favorite fashion season of the year!
Today I wanted to play around with different jewel tones, such as emerald, sapphire, and topaz, and combine them into one outfit. I love each color by itself, and I’ve already paired navy gingham and mustard together, but I wanted to see if emerald and mustard (topaz) could just as easily be combined.
The key to combining three colors that are next to each other in the rainbow is to use neutral colored accessories to tie the pieces together. I kept my jewelry simple, pearls and gold, and used cognac as my neutral color of choice. The matching of the belt with the shoes keeps the look from having too many colors and overwhelming the viewer (plus, who wants to be a walking rainbow??).
I think that the best thing about jewel tones is that you can mix many of them together! I love this look! Happy weekend Whit! Susan

you pulled off the preppy look GORGEOUSLY! i never really thought to combine all jewel tones, and now i definitely have to try it. it's so eye catching but chic. and i really like the blouse underneath your sweater- it's my favorite part!
