Luxe for Less: Fall Handbag Edition

August 8, 2013

Hello, lovelies!
I apologize for my absence yesterday, I was getting over a bug that’s been going around and wasn’t able to do much blogging.  But I am feeling much better now and am ready to get back at it!

UPDATE on the laptop:
Bad news is the motherboard was completely fried and apparently it was only a matter of time until it went kaputt (did you know that is German for broken?). GOOD NEWS is that we were able to have all our data backed up and get a new computer by this weekend. PTL.  By next week, I will be back to blogging on a real computer.  All I can say is that God provides.

Anywho, this is the post I originally had planned for yesterday, but being sick prevents me from finishing it (also apparently from using correct grammar!). I am SUPER excited about this post, it’s something I have been planning for the past couple of weeks!  Raise your hand if you know or have heard of Aldo?  Some of you?  Ok, how many of you know that they not only make great shoes, but also fabulous handbags as well?

WELL, I was first introduced to their handbags by way of doing my photo shoot with Steph from White Coat Wardrobe  and she was featuring a beauty from Aldo that was a great Kate Spade Bow Terrace Fulton look alike.  Seriously, at first I thought it was a true Kate Spade bag!  After she told me where it was from, it got me to thinking that maybe Aldo had more designer look-alikes??

I immediately visited  the handbag portion of their website that evening, and OH MY GOSH, it was love at first bag…er, site.  I am trying to grow my handbag collection with some good basic colors like beige, black, cream, etc. and have been wanting to invest in quality pieces, too.  Unfortunately, I do not have the cash to plunk down on a designer bag like I would want to (they are seriously worth the investment), but I am in need of want of a fall bag or two, you know, something that can go with everything, classic shape that will never go out of style, a color that will always be in fashion, etc.

SO, imagine my delight/hubby’s consternation when I happened to look through and dissect the entire collection of handbags.  And I mean everything.  And ohh did it make me happy!  The bags themselves were lovely, but the PRICES made them swoon-worthy. Go ahead, take a look, I will not blame you if you get lost amongst the pretties, and I will TOTALLY understand it if you forget about me.  Seriously, I give you my blessing.

If I haven’t convinced you to run take a peek over there, then maybe my little chart below might do you in…

Fall Designer bags for less

Fall Designer bags for less by whitleyschoop featuring a zip top bag

don’t know about you, but I have been SUPER excited about the handbags that Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Coach, etc. have been debuting for fall! All of the jewel tones, classic structures, and hardware leave me swooning over my web brower (and wishing I had a bigger wallet!). While I am in love with the fabulous handbags, I am not in love with the prices. It seems like these little details are always getting in the way of what could be a great love affair with Michael. Or Marc. (Even my husband’s name begins with “M”!).

Ok, but seriously, look at these bags! Three out of the four are from Aldo and the cream one is from Brina Box (girl’s got taste!). Don’t get me wrong, I am it saying that investing in a designer bag is bad. I am all for it! But some of us other don’t have the mullah or we want to make our money stretch a little further than just one (or two) bags. Lets do the math…you could purchase all three Aldo bags for less than the price of the Kate Spade. Sounds pretty good, right? And this list is just the tip of the iceberg. Oh, are you wondering about quality? Gotcha covered on that one! I walked into the Aldo store in the local mall (um, don’t know how I didn’t know about it until now?) just to take a peek at the handbags and check out the quality.  It was surprisingly very good!  The shoulder straps/handles were sturdy, the material didn’t seem flimsy, and the colors were gorgeous.  Oh, and did I mention that if what you are looking for isn’t in the store, they can order it and it be shipped to your house sans shipping fee?  Yeah.  I about died.

Well ladies, I am off now to go build myself a closet to house all of the bags I will be purchasing…just kidding.  “With great power comes great responsibility”, and for me that means not goin’ all cray-cray over the sale page…at least not this month 😀

What bag is your must-have for this fall?

If you’re not going designer, what is your look-alike steal?

Happy almost-weekend, and stay tuned for a giveaway appearing on the blog tomorrow with PEARLS & PASTRIES SHOP.

this is great Whitley! I really have a hard time even wrapping my mind around spending more than $150 for a bag – most of mine are under $100. I put my bag down in juice, my dog drops biscuits in it, and I leave it on the floor my my daughter's dance studio. I love handbags, but expensive ones are not for me at this point. Thanks for the tips! Susan

Some of the steals I like more than the designer bags! There is a little more detail to them that adds just a little extra! I only buy about one handbag a year (bday present) and it's typically Coach (from the outlet when they have their extra 30% off everything). But I do have to say they last me a year+ so to me it is worth it.

Love this! I did a Friday Finds on Aldo bags awhile back! I had no idea either! I stumbled upon a bag by chance, and then was pleasantly surprised when I starting browsing their site. Everything was so cute!! My best friend bought a fabulous luggage color satchel from there, and it is fantastic quality! You can't beat those prices! Love your steals!
