Hello, lovelies!
I will just go ahead and start right off the bat, I….LOVE…..STATEMENT NECKLACES!!!!! I am now the proud owner of (two) necklaces, and while that may not seem like a lot compared to some of my more blessed readers out there, it is a huge deal to me, especially since I paid AMAZING (read: RIDICULOUSLY) prices for them! (As in, so good, it should be illegal…)
Anyhoo, this lovely piece came in the mail for me yesterday, and I was literally dancing around my bedroom after opening the package. You see, I found this lovely boutique on Etsy that had this lovely as well as the same one in green, and I quickly snatched it up, all the while being ok with the fact it might not be top quality. Who was going to look at it closely other than me?
WELL, when the box came in, it was heavier than anticipated…I was actually excited about that! Why, you may ask? Well, heavier box means heavier contents, which means said contents are made from heavy materials, which means heavier materials are of better quality, which means better quality lasts longer than cheaper, lighter materials…and then I noticed that it said J.Crew on the clasp? Could it just be a really good knock-off?
Either way, this girl was dancing around the room utterly ecstatic at the steal she snagged!!
Uh, and a little side note, it was gorgeous….Ok, maybe it was even prettier than she had imagined it to be in person, but you know, that’s a minor, rather insignificant detail….

SO, the first question that popped into my head was, “How in the world am I going to style this??” I had been dreaming up outfit ideas for the past two weeks while it was being shipped, but when it actually arrived, they completely disappeared from my memory.
I knew I wanted the necklace to be the main focus, and I wanted to use it to dress up an outfit (which is one of the main purposes of a statement necklace). And what’s a better canvas than a pair of jeans?
Seriously, if you do not own a good quality pair of denim (not colored, just the regular wash) jeans, I strongly recommend in investing in one if you can. A good pair of jeans in a cut that flatters your figure is one of the top wardrobe staples that a girl should have in her arsenal. Not only do they go with everything (and I mean EVERYTHING), they can be dressed up or down, all depending on what you pair them with.
After I decided what pants to wear, the rest just kind of fell into place. I knew I wanted to wear gingham, so I asked my Instagram friends to help me decide between pink or green…
and the consensus was the green :).

The heels brought out the pink in the necklace, and the blazer polished off the look.
I kept my other accessories to a minimum because it would have been too much to have the statement necklace and armcandy at the same time. I did allow for my sparkly envelope clutch because it was begging me to be a part of the action…So I acquiesced. 🙂

I am slowly but surely building my jewelry collection, and my statement pieces will acquire more friends over time. It’s a suh-looww process for this rather impatient fashionista (seriously, why can’t we just PIN something and it appears in our closets???), but the wait will definitely make it all worth it.
