Happy Tuesday, lovelies!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, filled with sunshine, warm weather, great food, and time spent with family and friends, while at the same time remembering the sacrifices our servicemen and women have given for our freedom. My grandfather, who has not been with us for some time, along with my mother’s uncle all served in the Army and Navy during World War II. Growing up, my family and I would visit my grandfather’s grave, and visit my great-uncles who were still living, and thank them for their service. Unfortunately, I do not live close enough, and sadly, they have all passed away. It’s a very sobering thought to think that all of these great men are passing on, and soon there will be no one left of that generation.
At first, I had nothing specific planned for the weekend, just the usual laundry, chores, and getting ready to be out of town this week.
It actually ended up being a rather fun weekend! Saturday, we had an impromptu cookout at a friend’s house, Sunday, we slept in, yesterday, we did laundry and cleaned, and then we hosted another small cookout at our apartment. Let me just say, that normally I prefer planning ahead of time so I can make some sort of dish, but I was rather surprised at how quickly I came up with a pasta salad, fruit salad, and spinach salad. The others that came brought hotdogs and the condiments, chips and salsa, dessert, and refreshments to share. I love it when friends can get together and contribute to a meal! And yesterday the weather was PERFECT! Sunny, warm, lightly breezy, and it was light out until 9 pm…Perfect for sitting outside the entire evening!
Sadly my weekend has come to an end, but that doesn’t mean the festivities are ending for me…One of my best friends from high school is getting married this Friday, and I am one of her bridesmaids! This girl has been one of my best friends since I first started my freshman year of high school. I was this dorky girl who knew no one, and she and one of my other best friends were the first ones to befriend me. Aaand we’ve been best friends ever since. We are the friends that no matter what the distance or how much time has passed since we last talked, when we get together, it’s as if no time has passed at all. We tell each other everything, and know we can count on each other to be there when we need it.
Anywho, today I am traveling back to my home town to do some last minute shopping before the wedding (for wedding stuff!), and then tomorrow we are driving up to Indianapolis for the rest of the week’s activities. I am QUITE looking forward to having a girls’ only trip (something I’ve never done before!), and be a part of my best friend’s wedding. Oh yes, I will be crying. Probably more than once this week. But I couldn’t be more honored or happy that she asked me to be a part of the big day!
As a married woman myself, I know what a blessing and privilege it is to have someone to face life with. To always have your best friend by your side, someone who completes you. Someone that before the world began, God picked out just for me. Wow. And to get to see my best friend start that new life with her husband, I tend to get emotional. Probably because I can relate to all the emotions she will be feeling on her big day! You ladies that are married know what I’m talking about! 😉
Well, that’s all the wedding details I will give for now. Since I will be out of town until Sunday, I will be taking a break from the blog after my Wishlist Wednesday post tomorrow. If you follow me on Instagram, you can tag along for some of the things going on this week. 🙂

This outfit is from Saturday’s cookout, it was rather cool that day, so a cardi and scarf were needed. My outfit almost fits into my Closet Remix Challenge, the scarf and knot bangle are new. Technically I did not break my spending ban because they were purchased with my gift certificate I won from the Pink Pineapple Shop. If you have yet to check out their shop and you are nautical obsessed, you will fall in love with this shop! I had a $50 credit to the shop, and I spent a good week trying to decide what I was going to purchase with it, SUCH a difficult decision! I picked the scarf because 1) I wear scarfs like they are going out of style (which they never will, in my opinion), and 2) It’s anchor print…’nuff said. The knot bangle was just too cute to pass up. Also nautical themed, I needed a bangle that would go well being stacked or just by itself. Let’s just say that it will probably become a part of my daily rotation.
Oh, and I’m sure we have already covered my unhealthy obsession with anchors and nautical print…If my outfit from Saturday and my outfit from yesterday are any indication, I may need an intervention…
