Nautical Anchor Skirt and Pink Gingham OOTD

April 9, 2013

Hello lovelies!

I am so excited about this post because it features two of my favorite things:  Anchors and pink gingham!!
The weather is SO nice here in the Midwest (at least where I am) and I thought it was time to break out my skirt and sport some Spring-y prep style (and perhaps give my legs a peak at the sun, teehee)!

In the past, I have not been a fan of tying shirts at the waist but I think I am sold on the look now!  Don’t you think it gives the look more interest rather than just tucking it in??

Sometimes I roll my sleeves up in a very nice, even way but today I felt like scrunching up.  What do you think of the haphazard look?

The true whiteness of my legs is revealed in this picture. 🙂

Aaand what outfit would be complete without armcandy??

The Deets:
Top:  J.Crew Factory  //  Skirt:  J.Crew Factory sold out, similar (but more expensive) Tommy Hilfiger or eBay!! here and here // Necklace:  vintage  //  Shoes:  Forever 21  //  Pink bangle:  Forever 21  //  Turquoise bangle:  Forever 21  //  White bangle:  F21 sold out, similar here  //  Anchor bracelet:  Kiel James Patrick  // Pave link bracelet:  Etsy

I am absolutely IN-LOVE with this anchor skirt!!!  I have always had an obsession with a passion for the nautical look, and to me, nothing says nautical like navy and pink combinations!  Not to mention gingham is a pretty easy print to do pattern mixing.   I’m already trying to think of other colors to wear with this skirt…Should I do more pattern mixing next time or keep it simple?
The skirt was a little bit shorter than what I was expecting, but I wore it at the hips instead of at the waist.
And I’m pretty sure you’ve already seen my jade flats from F21, they’re so versatile and add a nice unexpected pop to an outfit!

What are some ways you would wear a nautical look?
Would you choose the pink and navy combo or different colors?
Hope everyone is enjoying nice weather this week!
XOXO, Whit

Nice print mixing- those are my favorite kind of looks. And I love tying shirts at the waist rather than tucking them in- it defintiely gives it a more playful vibe. I love this whole preppy, summery feel- it's definitely making me itch to clear out the winter sweaters!

I love the messy sleeves. Also your legs are not too pale… it's only April! 😉 Thought you should know, since I've been reading your blog I have been more inspired to put colors together. Yesterday I wore a tangerine button up under a mint cardigan with royal blue cap toe flats. I don't think I would have ever put such bold colors together until I started reading your blog! It might sound a little crazy but I liked it!
