101 things in 1001 days

NEW YEAR REFLECTIONS, & 101 IN 1001 DAYS

January 1, 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR, LOVELIES!

It’s so hard to believe that 2013 has come to a close, and that today is the first day of a new year.  2014.  I’ve been out of college for almost six years, and college for 2 1/2 years.  In the grand scheme of things, it may not seem like a very long time to some of you (you’re probably doing the mental math to guess how young I am), but for me, I am just now realizing how quickly time seems to be flying by!

As I look back on what I accomplished in 2013, it was definitely a roller coaster of events; applying for jobs, starting a blog, having an interview and being told they went with someone more bouncy (#notevenkidding), working two part-time jobs, going to New York for a blog conference and meeting some fabulous blogger babes (Alex, Beth, and Danielle!), meeting Anna Wintour, having to put down my dog from childhood the day after Christmas (more on that, later), etc.  Some days were a blast and some of the most memorable, and some days were just plain hard and I wanted to curl up in to a ball with the blankets over my head and hide from the world (there may have been a couple of days when I did just that).  But as I really think back over this past year, I have learned so much from both the good and the bad experiences, equally.  I’ve learned that you can’t have joy without the heartache.  I’ve learned that without pain and suffering, happiness wouldn’t seem as sweet.

Our experiences, whether good or bad, teach us lessons, and through those lessons we change.  Change for the better, change for the worse, but we never stay the same.  I know I am not the same person I was on January 1st, 2013.  I’m not even the same person I was three weeks ago, and I know I will have changed even more when I’m looking back on 2014.

With that being said, I have decided to create a list of things I’d like to do/accomplish.  Call it a small bucket list, if you will, but this is a list of 101 things I’d like to do in 1001 days.  I got the inspiration from Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling and my blogger friend Dana of Pink Champagne Problems.  Instead of making New Year’s Resolutions and possibly not keeping them (let’s be honest, ladies!), I decided to make a longer list that I hope to accomplish over time with little goals that will help me to accomplish some of those would-be New Year’s resolutions.  When I actually started writing this list about three months ago (I kind of put it down and forgot about it for awhile #procrastinator), and then picked it back up again, I actually had to cross some things off my list and write new ones (yay me!).

SO, without further ado, here is my list, and it begins, TODAY.

So there you have it, my 101 things.  Looking over the list, there are some things I realize may not happen, and I could swap them out for more “realistic” dreams, but that’s not really the point of this list.  It’s ok to dream a little bigger, wish for things that seem just out of your grasp.  Afterall, half the fun of making these lists is the unknown.  How close will you come, and what unexpected things will come from trying to achieve another goal?
Hopefully this list has inspired you to think about what you’d like to accomplish this year.  The thought of creating a 101 Things in 1001 Days may seem like a daunting task, and to be honest, it took a lot more time and energy than what I thought, but it was worth it.  Start out small, maybe 31 Things in 301 Days, or even 10 Things in 101 Days; you decide!
Let me know if you decide to start a list, and when you finish it, I’d love to hear about some of the things on YOUR list!
Stay classy!
