Smoothie Saturday: Blueberry Banana Bash

April 27, 2013

Hello, lovelies!

Happy Saturday to you all, I hope your week wasn’t too stressful and that you can finally relax for a couple days.  My week has been rather stressful, to say the least, trying to get on a blogging schedule so I don’t stay up late the night before posting (aka, no cuddle time with the hubs), looking for a full-time job, practicing choral music, creating a budget that will work (and that I will stick to!), etc.  And not to mention all the emotional stress that goes along with all of these things as well as the events that have happened in the past week…I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for a vacation! *Germany, please come soon!!*

Anyways, I know it’s been a couple of weeks since I posted a recipe, but I have been trying to unplug from the blog on the weekends.  Let me say, that it has been NICE to have a mental break.  It leaves me refreshed and full of ideas for the next week :).

The recipe I am sharing with you today is another creation of mine, and the colors should be quite pleasant to see (sorry about the Green-Eyed Monster recipe, the ratios have to be just right).

This one I call the Blueberry Banana Bash because it is full of healthful-goodness that will satisfy your sweet-tooth and make for a great meal replacer or post-workout snack.

Recipe:
Blueberry Banana Bash:
Ingredients:
1 c. frozen or fresh blueberries
1 whole banana, fresh or frozen
1 handful fresh spinach
1 tbsp. almond butter (I used Whole Foods brand 365)
2 c. almond milk (I used Silk Unsweetened Almond)

Directions:  Blend together all the ingredients and drink up!
The almond butter gives you a quick dose of protein good dose of protein and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, which help lower cholesterol  and makes you feel sated more quickly.  The blueberries add antioxidants and vitamins, and the banana is a perfect post-workout food as it will replenish your energy quickly.  And what smoothie would be complete without some greens!
Packed with goodies, this smoothie is as tasty as it is healthy.  Try it out, and let me know how you like it!
