Style Session with J.Crew: Fall Collection

August 23, 2013

Happy Weekend, lovelies!
I hope everyone has winding down the work week and heading towards a relaxing weekend.  August seems to be super busy!

Hopefully some of you were able to attend  your local J.Crew’s Style Session last night, it was so much fun!  I attend last night’s event with a blogger friend of mine, the amazing Chioma of Chioma’s Evolution of Style, and we had so much fun picking out pieces from the new collection and styling them, taking pictures, and figuring out that sparkling lemonade WILL fizz all over the floor even if the bottle isn’t shaken (oops!).

Today, Chioma and I are sharing with you a couple of looks we styled at the J.Crew event last night.  As we walked in, they greeted me by name (guess I’ve been there so many times!), and they gave us a tour of the new pieces that had arrived.

SO excited about all of the jeweled collars I’m seeing!!
The first look I put together is somewhat of a risk for me.  You’ve probably heard me mention that camouflage is one trend that I am staying away from because I’m not a fan.  I wanted to put together a look using the camo chinos, to get outside my comfort zone (I always believe one should try something before you dismiss it!), so this is what I came up with!

I paired the chinos with a beaded chambray shirt and the adorable striped excursion vest (LOVE!!).  I finished the look off with the gray suede wedges but didn’t wear a necklace because it would have overwhelmed the outfit.  I had to size up a whole size with the wedges because they run small, and the vests tend to run large so size down if you can.

Love how my stylist rolled up the cuffs!

This second look is more my style, very classy, preppy, and perfect for the teaching profession!  I put this emerald sheath dress over a polka dotted oxford shirt, and added pops of color with my accessories to keep the look from becoming too buttoned-up school-teacher-y.  I  The crystal fan necklace added a little sparkle and pink, and a stylist added the neon amethyst belt.

Of course I couldn’t take off the gray suede wedges, they were too comfy!!

I had such a blast looking through the new collection and pulling out items to try on (the wonderful stylists placed them in a room for me, followed us around the store, happily took photos, etc., total VIP treatment!).  Even though I did not buy anything last night (and they knew from the get-go I wasn’t going to), the stylists still treated us like we were regular clientele.

Make sure to hop over to Chioma’s blog to see her top style pics (get it, pics?) from last night!

Enjoy your weekend, lovelies, and check back to this post to see my J.Crew fall picks!

I agree. The camo outfit is everything-I've pinned it and added it to my facebook page!
