If you follow me on Instagram (@classysassywhit), then you probably saw my momentary crisis as to how I could style my Wellies (last styled here). Probably the most gorgeous color to ever be made, they sat all lonely in my closet, only worn a handful of times. You’re probably thinking I’m crazy and that these babies should be worn with any and every color because they are boss like that, and you’re absolutely right! For awhile, I got caught in a little color rut and thought I could only wear these with a color coordinated outfit.
So I did what any other fashionista in crisis would do, I posted on Instagram asking for your all’s help =). I am so overwhelmed by the amount of encouragement and suggestions that everyone gave me, I felt sort of silly for not thinking of them myself! Most of you said that what to wear with them didn’t need to be overthought and that these boots could literally be worn with anything and everything. Some of you said that they were so pretty that they deserved to be the spotlight of the outfit and it didn’t matter what else I had on. All of you were right! 😀 Seriously, guys, there are times when I wonder how I’m even worthy of writing a fashion blog because I get so much inspiration from you!
Now that I have been thinking outside of the proverbial [shoe]box (hehehe), I have a confession to make: I have worn these babies at least three times this past week! I could blame it on necessity, that the weather has been so slushy, nasty and cold that it warranted my wearing them so frequently, but to be honest, I (re)fell in love with my Hunters! =) If the forecast called for freezing rain and icy conditions, I did a little happy dance while wiggling my feet into my boots. I started dreaming up multiple outfits to wear with my boots, and realized that the possibilities were as endless as you guys had said, and I couldn’t wait to wear them all!
If you don’t have a great pair of rain boots, I highly recommend investing in a pair (or two)! In fact, I recommend Hunters. Gloss, original, etc, so many different colors and finishes to choose from, it all depends on your preference and what you think would be most versatile with your closet, like a black, navy, or dark green. Or, if you’re like me and love statement pieces, go for a bright, bold color to make any outfit pop! Personally, I think the bright red color could go with anything, so in my book it’s both a neutral and a pop.
Even though these boots are unlined, my feet stayed warm and dry, and the temperatures were below freezing! This outfit in particular is probably my most favorite I’ve worn with my boots. It’s very Christmas-y (one of my colleagues said I looked like Santa’s helper). I love how my plaid shirt and bright red tights pop against the Tiffany blue Wellies; definitely brightened up my rather dreary day! I kept the rest of my colors in neutral cream, black, and grey to keep the focus on my tights and boots, and I was perfectly warm and dry all day long.
Well, lovelies, thank you all for your wonderful suggestions and support, I’m so glad I have such a wonderful group of friends and fans to help me :D. Take my suggestion, and invest in a great pair of rain boots! You can literally wear them with anything and everything, as I have now discovered, and in any season. You won’t regret it. And if I happen to find a pair of Tiffany blue Hunters, I will let you all know! 😉
