Deutschland Travels Part Three: German Brunch and Shopping

July 25, 2013

Hello, lovelies!
Today I will be bringing you more food and shopping pictures.  I’m sorry, I just can’t help that these are a few of my favorite things (cue song), and when there is good food and great shopping in practically every town or city, it’s hard not to indulge a teeny bit.

We ate brunch in the city, which if there is one thing to take away from my travels, it is that Europeans know how to do breakfast…and even the most inexpensive breakfast is steps higher than a McMuffin (sorry, Mickeydees!).

Seriously, look at this brunch!  We had two plates like this to split between the four of us, and fresh bread.  And did I mention that the orange juice was freshly squeezed?  And the presentation of the food is always fantastic!  The cheeses and different types of sausages and fruits are never just thrown on a plate, they are always neatly arranged in a presentation that is pleasing to the eye and, in my opinion, makes eating the meal more enjoyable.

Ok, now on the the shopping portion of our day:  I did not plan on shopping for myself that day.  We went into the city solely to find a navy blazer for the hubs, and maybe a few shirts for him as well.

And then I saw that they had a Zara, and I had never been in a store before so I wanted to go in, just for the experience.  Seriously, that was not in sarcasm.  I truly wanted to take a peek inside.
In my defense, I did not notice this sign until right before we walked into the store.  But oh where they having sales!  And my sweet mother-in-law, who loves shopping just as much as I do, convinced me to look around.  And to do a teeny bit of shopping.  I was resolved not to buy anything.  Until I saw a navy polka dotted blazer.  And a yellow linen tunic…Aaand the blue floral skinny jeans.  So I didn’t go crazy, which I could have, but I didn’t. Don’t worry, you’ll get to see some of my Zara finds on the blog tomorrow. 😉
Most of the buildings in a major city are new.  Especially in this town, because the majority of it was completely destroyed due to bombing from Great Britain during WWII.  There are small sections of historic buildings scattered throughout the city, most dating  from around the time of the Renaissance.
I had to grab a picture from my first summer there to show you what this church looks like.  It was first mentioned in historical records in 1238, so it is very old!
And if you are wondering what I wore walking around the city, I will close with my outfit from the day :D.  Keep in mind, it was only in the low 80s during the warmest part of the day do I was quite comfortable in my jeans and jean jacket!  And how fabulous is this scarf??  My mother-in-law snagged it at a local boutique, and I must say I am quite smitten with it!

Yes, those are anchor wedges, btw!
The Deets:
Shirt:  J.Crew (sold out) // Jeans:  Old Navy (on sale for $13 plus 25% off!!) // Jacket:  H&M
Shoes: Tamaris // Scarf:  boutique in Germany, similar // Bangle:  J.Crew // Bow Bracelet:  made by myself
I hope you have enjoyed my travel diaries so far!  Tomorrow will be Part Four, the second to last post in my Deutschland Travels series, and it features the highlight of our trip:  Heidelberg!
Thank you so much for sticking around, I hope I you have enjoyed your tour thus far 😀

I have a few questions for you! Do I need to size up in the Rock Star jeans> I heard they are really tiny. Also, how is your new job? I would love to see the boutique where you are working. I am certain that you are perfect for that job! I can't wait to see what you got at Zara! Susan
